Going on a ferry allows you to see the country closely.
You might miss the views from sky, but there are no chances of missing the views from a ferry.
There are many travel agents and companies that can help you with your traveling plans, but in case you want to save money then we would suggest you book the tickets independently.

Although, there is an option of getting a combined ticket as well. If you try to get that ticket then it will be covering the cost of a bus and ferry, because obviously you have to get on a bus in order to reach the ferry point. With even more amazing country views!
When you get a combined ticket, it’s more comfortable and it’s way more convenient.
You have the option of picking the route, the schedule and the company, all of this depends upon where you are in Krabi.
How to get to the bus station?
If you are worried about getting to the bus station then you can choose the pickup direct from your hotel, such as if you are somewhere close to a ferry company then you have the option of getting the ticket directly from there.
You can get a bus from their office directly to the pier, and there is an option of even a minibus service which takes to right to your resort as soon as you reach Koh Samui.
If you are concerned about the ferry companies, then there is Lomprayah which is very well known as the ferry services company and has built a really nice reputation with tourists.
Their office is in Krabi, and on a daily basis, they arrange four to five ferry departures.
The total journey of going from a bus then to ferry and then to Koh Samui is around 4 hours, as Lomprayah is offering you high-speed catamaran ferried from Krabi to your destination Koh Samui.
These ferries are not only fast but are really comfortable.
They are luxurious and well maintained as they offer you plenty of toilets and there are places where you can buy food and drinks.
Another reputable ferry services company is Seatran which also offers ferry from Krabi to Koh Samui.
It depends totally on you that whether you choose the company or not, you have to choose according to the route and your trip schedule.
They offer high-speed ferries which are of a higher standard and are loved by the tourists. You will be getting comfortable seating, and many facilities on board. They might take a little longer in terms of journey time because they have high-speed ferries, not catamarans.
Another company option that you have is Songserm, they offer you cheaper ticket as compared to the above two.
The standard might not be the same and their ferries might take a little long but as far as the price factor is concerned you can consider it.
You have to keep in your mind that in case you are choosing going by a ferry to Koh Samui from Krabi, then you always have to take a min-van or a bus. The reason is that Krabi is located on the west coast of the Southern Thailand, and on the other hand Koh Samui is off the coast of the east-side.
There is no possibility that you can cover all the distance by boat, you have to travel overland as well. First, you have to reach the ferry pier for the purpose of getting a ride of Koh Samui.
In my opinion, the ferry ride is worth it, because you are going to reach your destination by traveling in the water and witnessing such wonderful landscapes and countryside, islands and coastline.
It is also the cheapest option as well.
It takes you around two hours to cover the distance from pier to pier. You have to include the transfer time as well, that is done by a bus or mini-van. The timings of a ferry are very flexible and there are always slots available.
Now, it’s totally up to you, what mean of transportation you are going to choose in order to reach the ferry point. You have a few options such as coming by bus, mini-van, taxi or self-driven.
Going by bus
There are government buses available in Thailand, if you do not know they are really inexpensive and comfortable enough. You can choose to travel via one of these but you have to keep in mind that they have a fixed timing and you have to make it to the timings. They are slow as well because they cover many stops at every location in order to pick the passengers.
In order to grab these, you might have to take transportation by yourself to reach the local bus terminal.
Timings: It will take around 6 to 8 hours in order to reach the ferry terminal by bus.
The cost of the journey: The combined fare of the bus and ferry will be around TBH 450
Going by Taxi or Minivan
We can say that it is a fast and reliable option in order to reach the terminal in a budget. If you want to avoid the hurdle of going through the bus then you can hire the min-bus. Rent a car or go by taxi.
The mini-van or a shared taxi is suitable to pick a limited number of passengers, which can cause a delay too. It is definitely faster than a bus but is for sure more expensive than the government bus.
Timing: It will take you 3 to 4 hours to ferry terminal.
Cost: Around 650 BHT
